History of the Belokurikha Cable Car
Construction of the chairlift in Belokurikha began in the fall of 2001, when the eastern slope of the mountain had to literally be blasted to carve a path through the dense taiga. By the end of December that same year, the supports were installed, and in 2002 the lift officially opened. Since then, it has become the resort's main tradition — ascending Tserkovka Mountain to see the surroundings from a bird's-eye view. In early 2025, the State Expert Review of Russia approved the project for constructing another lift, indicating infrastructure development. The cable car operates year-round — both in winter and summer, remaining accessible to guests in any season.
Tserkovka Mountain — the Resort's Panoramic Peak
The chairlift leads to a beginner ski area and to the summit of Tserkovka Mountain, which features an observation deck. From here, panoramic views of the foothills, Cherga Range, and surrounding areas unfold. The Belokurikha resort and its environs, the Belokurikha River valley, and the Biysk Plain — all visible from the ascent height. At the very summit stands the Tserkovka rock with its characteristic feature on the stones, making this place instantly recognizable.
Lift Parameters: Length and Elevation Gain
The cable car spans 2,050 meters (according to other sources, 2,055 m), with an elevation gain of 801 meters above sea level. The ascent to the mountain takes about half an hour, allowing you to gradually enjoy the scenery and prepare for the panoramic views at the summit. The chairlift station is located in the resort area — 700 meters from the Katun Sanatorium, near the Blagodat Hotel. At the end of the resort zone, the Katun Sanatorium appears on the left, and after about 200 meters at the intersection, you need to turn following the sign to the cable car.
