National Sailing Center Gdańsk — Online Webcam
Sailing Center Gdańsk — a base for sailing enthusiasts
The marina in Gdańsk with a view of sailing yachts and tall masts is not just a live camera, but a window into the world of active recreation on the Baltic Sea. The screen broadcasts the waters in the Górki Zachodnie area, where the national sailing center is based. This is a modern complex that combines educational tasks and practical training for sailors. The camera shows a detailed panoramic view of the mooring zone: dense rows of boats on the piers, metal turbo-ventilation caps on the roofs of buildings, inscriptions on the hulls of vessels and the green shore in the distance. The top-down view covers most of the marina waters, making sea watching an engaging activity around the clock.
History and name of the facility
The modern sports and didactic complex was created in partnership with the Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk. The marina began operations on June 24, 2006, becoming an important point on the map of sea tourism in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. An important symbol of the facility became the name of Dr. Krzysztof Zawalski, a famous Polish sailor and coach whose contributions to the development of sailing in Poland are invaluable. Infrastructure expansion began in August 2014 — new piers, a breakwater and equipment were completed, increasing comfort for yacht owners. All works were funded by the Municipal Roads and Urban Development Authority of Gdańsk.
Location and surrounding geography
The complex is located in the Górki Zachodnie district on the western bank of the Vistula Śmiała river mouth, about half a mile from the entrance to Gdańsk Bay. This is a picturesque location surrounded by natural forests and coastline. The marina is situated in the natural surroundings of the «Ptasi Raj» nature reserve, making this area one of the cleanest waters on the Baltic coast. From the hills of Górki Zachodnie, there is a panoramic view of the bay, and from the camera you can see how winds blow from the northwest and west, creating favorable conditions for sailing. The distance to the historic center of Gdańsk is about 12 km, and the sea distance is 6 nautical miles, making the center a convenient point for both boaters and travelers seeking sea views from the shore.
Marina infrastructure with 186 berths
The marina has 186 berths, making it one of the significant points on the coast. New piers and a modernized breakwater provide additional protection from waves, and technical equipment further enhances safety on the water. The webcam shows how yachts, sailing catamarans and motorboats are placed in dense rows along the quays. Often inscriptions indicating the vessel's load capacity appear on the screen, adding practical interest to observation. Photos and videos from the camera clearly demonstrate what a modern yacht port looks like in real life: from white decks to shadows from masts on the water.
Competitions and World Sailing certificate
The center plays a key role in Polish sailing, regularly hosting regattas and competitions of various levels. A striking example is the Krzysztof Zawalski Memorial, a large-scale competition held in honor of the legendary sailor. The center, together with AZS COSA Gdańsk, organizes Polish championships in Olympic yacht classes, attracting the country's strongest athletes. An important achievement is obtaining the highest category of World Sailing certificate — «World Sailing Approved Training Centre» (Category C), which confirms the center's compliance with international educational and sports standards. The center also conducts international judging seminars, strengthening its status as a key point in European sailing.
Weather conditions in Gdańsk Bay
The wind regime in Gdańsk Bay has its own characteristics. Western and northwestern winds prevail, which is traditionally considered a favorable direction for yacht racing. Wave height is usually 0.5–1.5 meters, but during stormy periods it can reach 2–3 meters. The sailing season lasts from May to September, when the water is warmest and the wind is stable. The bay's waters are relatively shallow, so navigation requires knowledge of fairways and caution, especially for beginner sailors. The camera allows you to monitor weather conditions in real time: from calm mirror-like sea to light ripples depending on wind and waves.
How to get to the Sailing Center
The marina in Górki Zachodnie can be reached both by water and by land. The water route is by city ferry line F6 (Linia F6), which connects Targ Rybny with the National Sailing Center. The route has stops at Sienna Grobla, Wiosny Ludów, Tamka, Stogi — Górki Zachodnie, which is convenient for tourists starting from the historic part of the city. By land, the center is located on the AWFiS campus, address ul. Stogi 21, Gdańsk 80-642. A walk from the historic center through the forest paths of the Stogi district allows you to enjoy nature and prepare for the sea route. For those arriving by car, parking is available on campus, from which the approach to the piers begins.
What you can see on the camera
The live camera broadcast shows the wide marina waters of the National Sailing Center. The upper corner of the frame includes roofs with metal ventilation caps and a diagonal white structure. The main focus is on the piers, where numerous sailing yachts and motorboats with tall masts are tightly moored. Often the inscription UDŹWIG 6.3t is visible on the hull of one of the boats, indicating the vessel's load capacity. The background of the frame expands the horizon: green forests, open views of Gdańsk Bay and construction cranes in the distance. The top-down, panoramic view of the entire area makes observation similar to watching a marine raft, where every detail reflects the life of the waters in real time.
