Taipei 101 Skyscraper in Taipei — Online Webcam
Taipei 101 — A Symbol of Modern Taiwan
The Taipei 101 skyscraper towers over the capital of Taiwan as one of Asia's most recognizable architectural landmarks. This giant is visible from virtually anywhere in the city, and the online camera allows you to examine it in every detail — from the foundation to the spire reaching into the clouds. The height of Taipei 101 is 509.2 meters including the spire, and the building has 101 above-ground floors. Until 2004, it was the tallest building in the world, and today it remains the dominant feature of Taipei's city skyline.
Architecture and Engineering Solutions
The architectural style of Taipei 101 is postmodernism, combining modern technology with ancient Chinese architecture. The building looks like a structure of several sections stacked on top of one another, resembling a bamboo stalk or a pyramid of boxes. This design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional — it provides stability during typhoons and earthquakes, which are common in Taiwan.
The tower's stability under seismic loads is ensured by a pile foundation of 380 concrete supports, each driven 80 meters into the ground, combined with a powerful steel frame of eight reinforced concrete columns. Inside the building is housed a giant 660-ton tuned mass damper pendulum that compensates for oscillations during strong winds or seismic activity.
Xinyi District — The Business Heart of Taipei
The Taipei 101 skyscraper is located in Xinyi District — the modern business and financial center of Taiwan's capital. This district concentrates the offices of major corporations, shopping centers, and cultural venues. Also located here are the Taipei International Convention Center, the World Trade Center, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
Not far from the skyscraper, above the Xinyi business district, rises the 183-meter Xiangshan Hill (Elephant Mountain), which offers one of the best panoramic views of the city. Many tourists hike up here specifically to see Taipei 101 against the backdrop of sunset or nighttime illumination.
Xindian River and the City's Waterways
In the foreground of the broadcast, the water surface is visible — this is the Xindian River, stretching 82 kilometers, flowing through New Taipei and the capital. It is the main source of drinking water for the city of Taipei and plays a vital role in the life of the metropolis. The Xindian merges with the Dahan River to form the Tamsui River, along whose banks popular piers and promenades are located.
How the Camera View Changes at Different Times of Day
The Taipei 101 online camera shows the city in motion: in the morning, the skyscraper rises above the haze, during the day sunlight plays on the glass facades of surrounding buildings, and in the evening the city transforms. Nighttime Taipei is especially impressive — the tower is illuminated with colorful lights, and the river's surface reflects thousands of windows and street lamps. On holidays, fireworks are launched here, and the broadcast allows you to watch this show in real time.
