Stubičke Toplice — online webcam with resort square view
Thermal resort with centuries of history
Stubičke Toplice is not just a dot on the map of Croatia — it's a place where geology gifted people with hot springs that have been bubbling up from underground for many centuries. Located in the southern part of Croatian Zagorje, not far from Zagreb, this resort town grew around a natural phenomenon — thermal waters that surface along a tectonic fault line. The first reliable mentions of these springs date back to 1209, and a systematic description was provided by Hungarian historian Nikola Ištvanffi in the 17th century. According to legends, the hot springs were known even to the Romans — archaeological finds in the region confirm that ancient thermae existed here.
Stubičke Toplice became Croatia's first regulated thermal resort — meaning that not only were baths built here, but a full-fledged health infrastructure was organized, which in various modifications still operates today. In the park behind the Maximilian Bath, an octagonal pavilion in neo-Gothic style has survived to this day — the Dijon Steam Bath, reminiscent of the times when thermal tourism was experiencing its heyday.
What makes the resort special
Modern Stubičke Toplice is a combination of medical rehabilitation and a full-fledged vacation. Sanatoriums and rehabilitation clinics are equipped with physiotherapy equipment, and treatment indications cover a wide range: from rheumatism of joints and muscles to recovery from musculoskeletal injuries. In 2024, a new hotel for medical tourism opened here with investments of 17.6 million euros — this indicates that the resort continues to develop.
Infrastructure for guests includes thermal water pools, underwater massage, Finnish and Turkish baths, a cryochamber, and a fitness club. But Stubičke Toplice is not just about treatment. The town is surrounded by a large park with walking alleys, and nearby is Lake Jarki recreational lake, where you can engage in water sports or simply relax on the shore.
Attractions in the surrounding area
If you find yourself in Stubičke Toplice, it's worth visiting the surroundings — amazing places are gathered here. Just a few kilometers away rises Trakošćan Castle — one of the most photographed castles in Croatia, hidden among forests and lakes. And in the town of Marija Bistrica is the country's most important pilgrimage shrine, where thousands of believers come every year.
Archaeology enthusiasts will be interested in the Aquae Iasae archaeological zone — ruins of Roman thermae built around a hot spring. And in Stubički Strmac, you can see an unusual art object: a real passenger aircraft Fokker 100, which now serves as an attraction. All this is Croatian Zagorje, a region with deep traditions, hills, and forests typical of this part of the country.
Cultural life and festivals
Stubičke Toplice lives not only thanks to tourists — there is active local life here. Every year, Community Day is celebrated — a whole month of culture, unity, and joy. And on weekends, the town hosts "Mali ulični festival" — a small street festival that brings together locals and guests. There is also the "Our Roots" festival, dedicated to the traditions, games, and songs of Zagorje.
Local musical groups, such as "Frajleri" from Sveti Križ Začretje, perform at concerts in the parish church and at open venues. Exhibitions, fairs, performances by folk ensembles — cultural life here does not fade even in the off-season.
Nature and landscapes of Zagorje
Stubičke Toplice is located at the foot of Medvednica Nature Park — a protected area with dense forests, caves, and hiking trails. The landscapes of Croatian Zagorje are not alpine peaks, but gentle hills, vineyards, mixed forests, and small towns with tiled roofs. This is exactly the kind of landscape that opens up to those who come to the resort: the calm, measured beauty of northern Croatia, far from the hustle and bustle of the Adriatic coast.
The park around the resort itself is a separate attraction. Walking alleys, green lawns, flower beds make Stubičke Toplice a place where you just want to walk and breathe. This is important for those who came for treatment — walks in the fresh air complement physiotherapy procedures.
What the camera shows
The Stubičke Toplice webcam broadcasts from the resort square — a tiled space with paved surface, in the center of which stands a wooden gazebo. Around it, flower beds are laid out, trees and shrubs are planted, creating shade. On the left, a recreation area is visible — a person sits on a chair next to a folded umbrella-parasol. The square is a typical resort courtyard: pedestrian paths, green plantings, landscape landscaping. In the distance, a winding path leading to the gazebo can be seen. This is a real-time online camera — you see what is happening on the square right now, without delays or staging.
