Jinzun Fishing Harbor in Taitung — Online Webcam
Jinzun Fishing Harbor on Taiwan's East Coast
Jinzun is a picturesque fishing harbor located on the east coast of Taiwan in Taitung County. The name of this place literally translates to "golden cup" — it derives from the characteristic shape of the bay, reminiscent of an ancient Chinese wine goblet. Today it is a popular destination for surfing and beach recreation, and the panoramic webcam allows you to see the full beauty of the coastline in real time.
The east coast of Taiwan is renowned for its wild landscapes and powerful ocean waves. Jinzun is situated in Donghe Village, Donghe Township, Taitung County, at the 135th kilometer of Provincial Highway No. 11. This location lies between Xingguan Fishing Port in Chenggong Township and Fugang Fishing Port in Taitung City, making it a convenient stop for travelers journeying along the coast.
History of Jinzun Fishing Port Construction
Before the fishing harbor was built, the Jinzun area was a natural bay with shelter on the northern side and an extensive land area, making it an ideal location for port construction. Building of Jinzun Fishing Port began in 1984 (73rd year of the Republic of China era) and lasted 3 years. The project was completed in 1987 (76th year of the ROC era), and including subsequent additional budget allocations, the total construction cost amounted to 73.6 million New Taiwan dollars.
In recent years, Jinzun Port has faced serious challenges due to monsoon winds that increase siltation of the waterway. The depth at the harbor entrance has become insufficient for normal operations, preventing fishermen from going out to sea. In October 2013, the Taitung County government appealed to the central authorities for funding to expand the port. The authorities plan to invest in the expansion of Jinzun Fishing Port to transform it into a fishing hub for Taitung County and eastern Taiwan.
Surfing and Beach Recreation in Jinzun
Jinzun is considered one of the best surfing spots in Taiwan. It features a three-kilometer sandy beach with a beach break that is ideal for both beginners and experienced surfers. The beach offers a left wave on the left side of the small bay, as well as a spot at the end of the harbor breakwater that activates during larger swells.
Since 2011, Jinzun has hosted the Taiwan International Surfing Open, which represents the highest level of international surfing competition in Taiwan and is recognized by the World Surf League (WSL) as an international event. Every November, the Taiwan Open of Surfing (WSL QS event) takes place here, drawing surfers from around the globe.

Summer is calmer but waves are less predictable. The webcam allows you to assess current coastal conditions before your trip.
