From Raft Bridge to Ski Resort
The name Flottsbro has historical roots. It comes from the word "flottbro" — a raft bridge used to ferry travelers across the water in the 17th century. The old Gamla Göta landsvägen road between Stockholm and Södertälje passed through Flottsbronäset until the 1660s, and people were ferried across what is now the Flottsbrokanalen canal by raft. Today, an iron bridge built in 1975 by the Svea ingenjörregemente engineering regiment spans this canal connecting Tullingesjön and Albysjön lakes.
Tullinge Ski Resort
The slope visible on the webcam is located in the Tullinge area — one of the residential districts of Huddinge municipality. It's a gentle slope with groomed trails that transforms into a full-fledged ski resort in winter. In summer, the same trails are used for mountain biking, bobsleigh, and running. Ski lift poles and cables run up the slope — they're clearly visible in the broadcast. On the right side of the frame stands a characteristic red wooden building that serves as a service center and rental point.
Lakes and Fishing at Flottsbro
Besides the ski slope, Flottsbro is renowned for fishing. The facility sits at the junction of several bodies of water: Albysjön, Tullingesjön, and close to Gömmaren lake and the great Lake Mälaren.
