Crystal Bay Beach on Koh Samui — Live Webcam Online
Why Crystal Bay Beach is Called Silver Beach
This small bay on the east coast of Koh Samui is known by several names. Locals and tourists call it Crystal Bay or Silver Beach, although in Thai the beach is called Haad Thong Takian. The name reflects the main feature of this place — crystal-clear water that sparkles in the sun like silver. The bay truly lives up to its name: transparent turquoise water and picturesque scenery make it one of the most photographed locations on the island.
Snorkeling and Marine Life in the Bay
Crystal Bay is famous for its excellent snorkeling conditions. Hard coral reefs begin right from the shore, where you can encounter a variety of tropical fish — butterflyfish, parrotfish, and other shallow-water inhabitants. Sponges and other invertebrates are clearly visible in the transparent water. The coral reefs are located close to the shore, making snorkeling accessible even for beginners. Local hotels, including Crystal Bay Beach Resort, provide snorkeling equipment right on the beach.
When to Visit Koh Samui
The optimal time to visit Crystal Bay is the dry season from December to April. During these months, the air temperature stays in a comfortable range of 24–30°C, and the sea remains calm and transparent. December is considered a particularly good month for a trip. The rainy season falls in October-December, when the northeast monsoon brings heavy rainfall — in November, an average of 444 mm of precipitation falls, and stormy seas lead to the cancellation of boat excursions.
Geography and Features of the Beach
The length of the bay is about 250 meters. The beach is located between the popular resorts of Chaweng and Lamai, yet maintains a secluded atmosphere. Massive granite boulders rise on both sides of the bay, creating natural wind protection and forming a picturesque landscape. Soft white sand and a gentle entry into the water make Crystal Bay an ideal place for family vacations. The beach is open to the public — not only hotel guests but anyone can visit.
Activities and Infrastructure
In addition to swimming and snorkeling, kayaking and SUP boards are available on the beach — equipment rental operates right on the shore. Restaurants and bars are located nearby, where you can try Thai cuisine and fresh seafood. Traditional Thai massage is offered on the beach — after a long day in the sun, it's a great way to relax. The beach infrastructure is well developed, making it comfortable to spend an entire day here.
What You Can See on the Camera
The webcam at Crystal Bay Beach operates in real time and broadcasts a panoramic view of the bay. The frame includes white sand, palm trees swaying in the wind, and waves rolling onto the shore. The camera is installed near Crystal Bay Beach Resort and covers the central part of the beach. In clear weather, the granite boulders at the edges of the bay and the turquoise water, through which the sandy bottom is visible, can be seen from the camera. The live broadcast allows you to assess the current conditions on the beach — wave height, number of visitors, and the overall atmosphere of this picturesque corner of Koh Samui.
