Iwonicz-Zdrój: a balneological resort with a centuries-old history

Iwonicz-Zdrój is one of the oldest resorts in Poland with a remarkably rich history. The first mention of the mineral waters in the settlement dates back to 1413, while Iwonicz-Zdrój was first mentioned as a resort in 1578 in the book of the court physician of Stefan Batory.

The mineral waters of Iwonicz-Zdrój are used for inhalation, drinking and bath treatments, as well as for producing Iwonicz healing salt and cosmetics. The resort is located in the Low Beskids, in the Iwonicz valley, at an altitude of about 400 metres above sea level. The mountainous pre-mountain climate with abundant coniferous forests creates healing air that is itself a therapeutic factor.

An interesting historical fact: in 1914 Józef Piłsudski stayed in Iwonicz-Zdrój, where he inspired the creation of the Riflemen's Association units. This shows that already at the beginning of the 20th century the resort was a significant place where the destinies of historical figures crossed.

How to get to Dietla Square

Dietla Square is located right in the centre of Iwonicz-Zdrój, which makes it easily accessible for all guests of the resort. If you are staying in one of the town's sanatoriums or hotels, you will most likely be able to walk to the square within 10–15 minutes.

Iwonicz-Zdrój is located in Lesser Poland, roughly 30 kilometres south-west of Krosno and 70 kilometres from Rzeszów. You can get there by bus from major Polish cities or by car along road No. 28, which runs across the entire region.
