Lake Pogoria III in Dąbrowa Górnicza — online webcam
Lake Pogoria III — a gem of the Silesian Voivodeship
Lake Pogoria III is one of four artificial reservoirs in the Pogoria group, located in the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza in southern Poland. It's a popular recreation spot for residents of Upper Silesia and Zagłębie, attracting visitors with sandy beaches, clean water, and well-developed infrastructure. The online webcam allows you to see this place in real time — from swimmers on the beach to anglers on the wooden pier.
How the lake came to be
Pogoria III is a post-exploitation quarry, flooded in 1973–1975. Sand was previously mined here, used for backfilling mines in Upper Silesia and Zagłębie. After mining operations ceased, the pit filled with water, turning into a full-fledged reservoir. The lake was named after the Pogoria stream, in whose basin it is located.
Reservoir parameters
Pogoria III is the largest of the four reservoirs in the group. Its water surface area is 208 ha at maximum damming. The length of the reservoir reaches 2 km, with an average width of about 1 km. The maximum depth is 11 meters, making it suitable for water sports and fishing. The average surface water temperature in summer stays around 20°C, while the bottom layers remain cool.
Beach and swimming area
The lake shore features a guarded beach with a swimming area. The sandy surface makes it convenient for family recreation. During the season, lifeguards are on duty daily: weekdays from 10:00 to 18:00, weekends and holidays until 19:00. The beach has a wooden pier (jetty), offering a view of the opposite wooded shore.
Fishing on Pogoria III
The reservoir is popular among anglers. Fishing is allowed from watercraft — boats. The water area is managed by Koło PZW Będzin (local branch of the Polish Angling Association). The waters of Pogoria III are home to pike, zander, perch, bream, carp, catfish, eel, and amur. There is also an abundance of crayfish. The bottom at a depth of 7–8 meters is covered with plant substrate, creating favorable conditions for fish fauna.
How to get there
The lake is located 2.5 km from the Dąbrowa Górnicza railway station. You can reach it by bus routes 604 and 716. For motorists, there is parking near the beach. The nearest major cities are Katowice (about 20 km) and Częstochowa (about 30 km).
