Liseberg Park: A Century of Entertainment History

Liseberg Park is not just an amusement park — it is a true legend of Gothenburg, with a history dating back to May 8, 1923. It was then, as part of the Gothenburg Exhibition celebrating the city's 300th anniversary, that the doors of this amazing place were opened. Initially, the park included a recreation area and a congress park, and one of the first attractions was the 300-meter Kanneworffska wooden cable car, designed by Danish ride builder Valdemar Lebech. This cable car served until 1987, carrying over 41 million visitors.

Today, Liseberg is the largest amusement park in Scandinavia, welcoming millions of guests every year. The official colors of the park — pink and green — create a recognizable style that can be seen at the entrance and on the old buildings preserved from the early days of the park's existence.

Legendary Balder Roller Coaster

The heart of Liseberg Park is its rides, among which the wooden roller coaster Balder holds a special place. This ride was twice — in 2003 and 2005 — voted the best wooden roller coaster in the world in a major international survey. Grand Projects and Development

For the park's 100th anniversary, celebrated in 2023, a new hotel opened at Liseberg — the Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel. This unique building with themed rooms and restaurants has become part of the park's expanding infrastructure. The hotel operates year-round, offering guests the chance to immerse themselves in the Liseberg atmosphere even outside the amusement season.

The park also had plans to build the Liseberg Oceana water park, but in February 2024 a fire destroyed the construction site. Despite this, the park's management continues to develop the area and delight visitors with new projects.
