Filippovskaya School in Kirzhach — Online Webcam
A two-story building with a light-colored facade and a tidy courtyard — this is what Filippovskaya School in Kirzhach looks like on the live webcam. This educational institution in the village of Filippovskoye has served as a place where local children gain knowledge for nearly two centuries. The camera is positioned so that not only the building itself is visible, but also the surrounding area — a spacious courtyard with white curbs, green lawns, and trees in the background.
History of Filippovskaya School
Education in the village of Filippovskoye, Kirzhach district, has deep roots. In 1838, the first primary school opened here — a parish school for the children of parishioners. At that time, only 8 boys studied there, and two teachers provided instruction. Over time, the school expanded, and in 1970 a new building was constructed, which is what we see on the camera today. In 1994, the school received the status of a secondary comprehensive school, and in 2007 it became the recipient of a grant of 1,000,000 rubles — a significant recognition of the quality of education in a rural area.
Architecture and Building
The modern school building at 26 Sovetskaya Street is a typical example of Soviet school architecture from the 1970s. The two-story structure with a light-colored facade and numerous windows is designed for the comfortable stay of students. In front of the main entrance is a large paved area — here they hold assemblies, physical education classes, and simply walk during breaks. The entrance area is equipped with a covered canopy, stairs, and a ramp — a concern for accessibility for people with limited mobility. An external metal fire escape is visible on the side wall of the building, and white curbs are installed around the perimeter of the courtyard.
Interestingly, the old school building has also been preserved in the village. The Volost Administration House (school) of 1880 at 17 Sovetskaya Street has the status of an identified architectural monument. This is a reminder that education in Filippovskoye has more than a century of history.
Origin of the Name
The name of the village of Filippovskoye is associated with Metropolitan Philip — one of the most venerated Russian saints. According to legend, in the 16th century Metropolitan Philip visited this area while traveling from the Trinity-Sergius Monastery to Kirzhach. The village belonged to the Moscow Chudov Monastery, and the name was established after this visit. Saint Philip, Metropolitan of Moscow (1507–1569), is known for his struggle against the oprichnina of Ivan the Terrible and his martyrdom for the truth — his name is borne not only by the village but also by the school, which continues the traditions of education.
Surroundings and Attractions
The village of Filippovskoye is located in a picturesque area of the Kirzhach district of Vladimir Oblast. On the banks of the Sherna River (Graya), the village is located on the A-108 ring road — the Moscow Big Ring Road. This convenient location makes it accessible for travelers who travel on the route between Moscow and Vladimir.
Near the school is St. Nicholas Church, known since 1628 — one of the oldest in the area. In the cadastral books of that time, a church in the name of Nicholas the Wonderworker is already mentioned. And an embankment of the Stromynka Tract has been preserved in the village — an ancient route connecting Moscow with the Vladimir Opolye. This tract ran through Vladimir, Suzdal, and Yuryev-Polsky, and Filippovskoye was one of the points on this important route.
Modern Life of the School
Today, the Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution "Filippovskaya Secondary Comprehensive School" is not just a place for lessons. The school is actively involved in museum activities, celebrates Victory anniversaries, and preserves the memory of local events. The average class size is 25 students, which is considered a good indicator for a rural school. The grant of 1,000,000 rubles received in 2007 was used to develop the material and technical base and introduce new educational technologies. The school continues to serve as a center of attraction for local families, preserving traditions and adapting to modern requirements.
