The street is named after Boris Stepanovich Sidorenko — a Hero of the Soviet Union who displayed heroism during the crossing of the Dnieper. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on November 17, 1943, Lieutenant Sidorenko was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. In 1985, a monument-obelisk "Victory" was unveiled in Nakhodka, with B. Sidorenko's name engraved on its memorial plaque. Six streets in the city bear the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union: R. Ya. Malinovsky, N. F. Vatutin, A. M. Matrosov, and others.
