Monument to V.I. Lenin — the central object of the square

The main dominant of Victory Square is the monument to V.I. Lenin, unveiled on April 29, 1980. This monument is a cultural heritage site of regional significance and represents an impressive work of monumental art.

The sculpture is cast in bronze and has a height of 5.15 meters. It is installed on a pedestal of red granite mined at the Kapustyansky quarry, which is 5.5 meters high. Thus, the total height of the monument reaches 10.65 meters — making it one of the most large-scale monuments of its kind in Stavropol region.

The authors of the monument are sculptor N.A. Shcherbakov and architect L.B. Raputov. Their work organically blended into the architectural ensemble of the square and became its calling card.

Memorial sites and monuments

The "Eternal Flame" memorial was erected in 1949 at the site of the mass grave of Soviet army soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The names of fallen fellow countrymen are carved on the granite slabs of the memorial — this is a place of worship and remembrance for Georgiyevsk residents. On May 9, 1974, the first Honor Guard took up its watch at the memorial, led by Hero of the Soviet Union P.M. Odnobokov.

Two monuments are installed at the Eternal Flame: on the left — the "Fighters for Freedom", associated with the events of the Civil War, on the right — a memorial dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War. In 2018, the memorial was reconstructed and the surrounding area was landscaped.
