Oktyabrskaya Square is one of the main squares of Astrakhan, located along the western and northwestern walls of the Astrakhan Kremlin. This place has a rich history that began in 1811, when construction of a new vazhnya began on the Kosa — that was the old name for scales used in trading operations. It was then that the square received its current name.
