The village of Krasnaya Bashkiriya appeared on the map of Bashkortostan in the 1930s. On January 10, 1929, by a resolution of the Bashkir Land Trust Board, the sovkhoz "Krasnaya Bashkiriya" was established, giving the settlement its name. The name is associated with the era of the country's industrialization and the organization of the namesake sovkhoz in 1929. In those years, Bashkortostan was undergoing large-scale transformations — new agricultural enterprises were being created, the way of life of villages was changing, and traditional forms of farming were giving way to collective ones.
During the Soviet period, the village actively developed as a large agricultural enterprise. In 1934, one of the first machine-tractor stations in Bashkiria was created on the basis of the MTS from the "Krasnaya Bashkiriya" sovkhoz. This became an important milestone in the development of agriculture in the region and made it possible to mechanize labor in the fields. Tractors and combines replaced horse-drawn power, which multiplied productivity and freed people from heavy manual labor. The MTS served not only the sovkhoz itself but also neighboring farms, becoming a center of technical progress for the entire area.
Today, Krasnaya Bashkiriya is the largest settlement in Abzelilovsky District after the district center. The population is 2,435 people (2010). The village maintains its role as an important agricultural center of the Southern Urals, where farming traditions are passed down from generation to generation. Descendants of the first settlers live here, for whom working the land is not just a profession but a way of life.
Geographical location and nature
The village of Krasnaya Bashkiriya is located in Abzelilovsky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It is situated 26 km northeast of the district center and 20 km west of the Magnitogorsk railway station (Chelyabinsk Oblast). This border location determines many features of village life — residents have access to the infrastructure of a large industrial city while maintaining a rural lifestyle and closeness to nature.
The village is located on the southern slopes of the Ural Mountains, and Magnitogorsk Airport is located nearby (territorially belonging to Bashkiria). The Ural Mountains create a unique landscape — hills, forest tracts, numerous streams and rivers. The climate here is continental with cold winters and warm summers, which is favorable for agriculture. In winter, the slopes are covered with snow; in summer, the fields and meadows are lush with greenery; in autumn, the forests turn golden and crimson.
The surroundings of the village are rich in natural attractions. Not far from the village of Krasnaya Bashkiriya, right at the border with Chelyabinsk Oblast, lies Lake Muldakkul (or Muldak-kul). The reservoir is surrounded by picturesque forests and attracts fishing enthusiasts and nature lovers. Local legend has it that the lake got its name from the word "muldak," which translates from Bashkir as "round" — the shape of the reservoir is indeed close to an oval. Birches, aspens, and pines grow in the surrounding forests; elk, wild boar, hares, foxes, and numerous birds inhabit the area.
Attractions and infrastructure
Despite its rural status, Krasnaya Bashkiriya has developed infrastructure. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Theotokos operates on the territory of the village (ul. Sergeya Kirova, 1). The religious life of the village is centered around this spiritual hub, where parishioners come for services and holidays. The church is not only a place of prayer but also an architectural adornment of the village, visible from afar.
A monument to the soldiers who fell in the Great Patriotic War has been erected in the village. The memorial reminds of the contribution of local residents to the victory over fascism. On Victory Day, solemn events are held here with the laying of flowers, veterans are congratulated by newlyweds, and schoolchildren read poems about the war. The monument has become a place of reverence and sorrow for all generations of the village's residents.
The social infrastructure of the village includes: a brick factory, a secondary school, a branch of the Askarovo Children's School of Arts, 2 kindergartens, a district hospital, a nursing home, and a House of Culture with the folk ensemble "Ryabinuska". These institutions meet the residents' needs in education, healthcare, and culture. The brick factory produces building materials not only for local needs but also for sale to neighboring settlements. The school provides complete secondary education, and the children's school of arts reveals the creative abilities of young residents.
Economy and agriculture
The agricultural sector remains the backbone of the village's economy. The Agricultural Production Cooperative "Krasnaya Bashkiriya" is the leader of the agro-industrial complex of Abzelilovsky District. The enterprise specializes in crop farming and livestock breeding. The fields around the village occupy significant areas — grain crops, forage grasses, and vegetables are grown here. The agricultural cycle determines the rhythm of life: spring begins with sowing, summer brings crop care and forage harvesting, autumn is harvest time, and winter is for tending livestock and preparing for the new season.
The achievements of local farmers are impressive. Grain yields in the sovkhoz increased from 5 to 26 centners per hectare in 1979. Such growth was the result of introducing modern technologies and mechanizing labor. Modern machinery, fertilizers, and sound agronomic practices ensure consistently high yields. Tractors, combines, and seeders are all maintained by local mechanics who know every detail of their machines.
Livestock farming is represented by dairy and cattle breeding. Farmsteads provide the population with milk, meat, and other products. Part of the produce is sold at markets in Magnitogorsk and other cities in the region. Milk from local farms is distinguished by high quality and eco-friendliness — cows graze on natural pastures and drink clean water from local sources.
Cultural life and notable people
The cultural life of the village is centered in the House of Culture, where the folk ensemble "Ryabinuska" performs. The group preserves the traditions of Bashkir folk art and performs at district events. The House of Culture hosts holidays, concerts, and solemn events — it is a center of attraction for residents of all ages. New Year's trees for children, holiday concerts for March 8 and February 23, and folk festivities at Maslenitsa — all are an integral part of village life.
The branch of the Askarovo Children's School of Arts gives young residents of the village the opportunity to study music, dance, and fine arts. Children develop their talents, participate in competitions and exhibitions. Graduates of the school of arts often continue their education at specialized educational institutions in Ufa, Magnitogorsk, and Chelyabinsk.
Among notable residents is Ivan Dmitrievich Suvorov — director of the "Krasnaya Bashkiriya" sovkhoz, who managed the enterprise for 16 years and was born in the Belokataysky District of Bashkiria. His work made a significant contribution to the development of the village. Under his leadership, the enterprise achieved high indicators in crop farming and livestock breeding, new technologies were introduced, and new production facilities were built. Suvorov became an example for many generations of local farmers.
