Lysva — a city with a three-century history
Lysva is one of the industrial centers of Perm Krai, located on the Chusovaya River. The city was founded in 1785, when Princess Varvara Shakhovskaya received permission to build a cast-iron foundry. Since then, Lysva has grown from a factory settlement into a full-fledged city with a population of 59.6 thousand people (2021 data). Lysva was granted city status in 1926.
The name of the Lysva River translates from Komi-Permyak as "coniferous forest" — and this reflects the city's natural surroundings. Lysva is located 86 kilometers from Perm and covers an area of 26.4 sq. km. The city ranks fifth in the Priuralye region in terms of industrial output and is known as the birthplace of helmets and gas stoves.
