Sandestin Beaches are located in northwest Florida, in the city of Miramar Beach, which is part of Walton County. This area is part of the so-called Emerald Coast — the Gulf of Mexico shoreline known for its emerald waters and sugar-white sand. The resort is situated between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay, creating a unique landscape with two entirely different bodies of water.

The white sand of these beaches is approximately 20,000 years old — it formed at the end of the last ice age, when pure quartz crystals were washed down from the Appalachian Mountains and gradually accumulated along the coast. The Sandestin beach area is located on the southern side of the resort complex. Some condominiums on the northern side are approximately a 10-minute drive from the beach. The distance to Destin is about 8 miles to the east — roughly a 15-minute drive.

In winter, the thermometer rarely drops below 10°C, but the water can be too cool for swimming — around 15–18°C.
